When Starlink makes sense
For remote fincas, mountain properties and villages where no fibre or ADSL line has ever reached, Starlink satellite internet is often the only realistic option, and modern hardware delivers speeds that comfortably handle streaming, video calls and remote work.
When fibre is still better
Where fibre is available, it usually wins on latency (important for video calls and gaming), reliability in bad weather, and monthly cost, satellite plans typically cost more than a standard fibre contract from Movistar, Vodafone or Orange.
What actually affects real-world speed
Both technologies rely on correct router placement and a properly configured mesh network inside the property, a great internet connection still won’t reach a bedroom behind three stone walls without the right WiFi setup on top of it.
